Serving Size 6

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion (diced)
  • 3-4 cloves garlic (mined)
  • 1 small head green cabbage (chopped)
  • 1 cup uncooked white rice
  • 2 cups beef bone broth
  • 1 15oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 14.5oz can fire roasted diced tomatoes (undrained, regular will work as well)
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp real maple syrup
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp honey
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  • Brown the beef
Heat olive oil in a large, deep skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess grease if needed.
  • Sauté aromatics
Add diced onion and cook 3–4 minutes until softened. Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds.
  • Build the skillet
Stir in chopped cabbage, uncooked rice, broth, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, maple syrup and seasonings.
  • Simmer
Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until rice is tender and cabbage is soft.
  • Finish & serve
Taste and adjust seasoning. Let sit uncovered for 5 minutes to thicken.
